Stuckness as practice

Stuckness as practice

I haven’t been quite feeling like myself lately, a feeling of being stuck and short bursts of energy and a lot of fatigue which is pretty unusual for me. Winter is when I usually feel alive. But I've realized how stuckness really brings me into the present moment more than anything, focusing on the future and planning and creating for once doesn’t feel good so all I can do is focus living moment to moment.I’ve decided to make stuckness a part of my practice.I have also come to realize every time I go through a phase I feel a lot better after...

A new year, a new intention

A new year, a new intention

Happy 2021! I love the feeling of beginning again. A freshness, a clean slate. A new year. Another chance. Have you set your intention for the year yet? If not, do it! Take a moment to sit in silence right now and allow a word or phrase to arise and go with that. Trust it. Last year my intention was to "create, like an artist" and as I look back on it, that's exactly what I did all year long. I implemented so many of my little soul projects and had so much fun doing it and plan on continuing...

The magic in the shift

The magic in the shift

November was an interesting month. Busy, full of fun. And full of overwhelm, especially at first. I've been doing a lot of juggling, a lot of creating, a lot of teaching. During the first week of teaching Inner Light Sanctuary classes (plus 5 other yoga classes for other studios and gyms), you can bet that I was spending my Thursday afternoon laying on the couch, mentally and physically exhausted. But the magic happened when something shifted in me after that first week.1.)  << REST >> I gave myself a "Mandee Day" to completely rest and it felt like a vacation, maybe even more relaxing...

Summer seasonal self-care

Summer seasonal self-care

Seasonal Self-Care: Summer There were times when I thought Spring wouldn't ever end, but what I learned throughout the last season at home is that nature continues moving forward. Nature is resilient. And so are we. We made it through and we will continue to make it through. So.. Happy Summer!!Here are some things I like to do for self-care during summertime: kayaking  smoothies ~ my recent favorite recipe is: [a handful or two] frozen kale, [1/2] frozen banana, [a handful] frozen blueberries, [1 scoop] green superfood powder, [1 tbsp] peanut butter, [1 tbsp] chia seeds, unsweetened almond milk hot...

Productivity can mean different things

Productivity can mean different things

How does it feel when we are stuck with being with ourselves with an unknowable amount of space and time? What do we do and how uneasy does it feel when we are left alone with only our thoughts and chatty minds?During this time of isolation, I've noticed how much chatter I've digested from the outside world. When you peel layer by layer of words that aren't yours in the quietness of your own space before you can get to the real you, your own voice, the depth of your own heart, and a calm mind. No wonder why we are...
